Classical Chair Leg

Classic chair legs  designs are very diverse kinds. But if observed, there are three types of legs which are very popular classic that (1) Cabriole  Leg , (2) sword leg(saber leg) and (3) flute legs

Cabriole legs

The most popular european classical chair leg  is the leg design inspired from the shape of the beast or  animal legs with many variations. This form is known as the cabriole leg. Visualization of the foot takes the form of a graceful arch of the upper and smaller at the bottom. Generally, the top of the leg have ornament. Ornament is  carved acanthus leaf motif.
Cabriole legs appeared in Britain in the late 17th century and spread to the forces in France. Cabriole leg became a hallmark or sign Rococo period which then popular in the 18th century, this characteristic eventually expanded to the entire State. Cabriole leg is still used and popular served until the 21st century, including the classic chair legs are made in Indonesia.

Saber Leg

European classical chair legs are also quite popular is the foot sword known as the saber leg. Generally foot sword diberik plain without decoration and tend to form the arch to the inside, which is made slightly thinner. It looked like a sword that shrink to the bottom. Foot sword popular in the late 18th and early 19th century. The most dominant developments seen in the American Federal style.

Flute Leg
